Another trip to Austria

Yes, it’s been a while. Life in Valencia keeps me busy. Well, I keep myself busy. Only when I moved here, I found out how much I truly missed the city life. As a young person who likes to explore new things, get to know new people, and just being outside, life in my small town in Austria bored me a lot. In Valencia, I feel alive. I still remember the day I returned after my last visit in Austria. It was the last three days of Fallas, and it felt like I came to a different place. It wasn’t the Valencia I left, it was completely different. The mood was absolutely crazy, I’ve never seen anything like it and I won’t even bother to try to explain what Fallas is and how it is, because no description could even get close to what’s happening there. But I still remember that incredible feeling I had when I returned. I never felt anything like it before. I was still in a bad and depressive mood when I exited the aircraft and entered the metro. With every stop closer to the city centre, more people entered and many had music boxes. It got so crowded, you couldn’t move at all. In Austria, that would mean that people are super grumpy. But in Valencia, they were in such a good mood. Everyone was singing, smiling, talking. It was infectious. My energy level went from -100 to 200 in about 30 seconds. I felt like I died in Austria, and Valencia brought me back to life again. I never ever felt like this before!

So it went on for these three last days of Fallas. Three wild days full of parties, fireworks, tourists, trash, churros, parades, mascletas. The first day after Fallas was the complete contrary. It seemed like the city died, and honestly, my mood went down again. I struggled a lot the following days and weeks. Truth to be told, I never found back into the routine I had set up before I left for Austria.

But I finally came to peace with it. Life changed, friends changed, circumstances changed. I travelled a lot in April and May, and I had to adjust my routine to my new circumstances. One thing I’m very proud of is how well I’m doing with working out. During my holidays in May, it was the first time in my life, I went for a run while on vacation. It wasn’t bad at all, as I was able to run right a long the sea. I was even looking forward to it a little bit. Playing football almost on a weekly basis helped with my motivation. The guys I’m playing with are very fast, and although they’ll always be able to outrun me, I feel like I want to make it a bit harder for them. I still go fitboxing twice a week, and I enjoy it a lot. Last week, it was the first time I made it to fourth place, and at the last two sessions, I was even in third place. I am so proud of myself, because I only joined six months ago and there are many people who’ve been training for two years or more. I truly feel like I’m in the best shape of my life, and I don’t mean necessarily physically but mentally as well. Although I’m not in the skinniest shape I’ve ever been, I’m definitely in the healthiest. That says a lot, considering that I’m still struggling with my eating disorder. It’s still an up and down, and I’m close to accepting that I’ll probably have to deal with it for the rest of my life. Just like an alcoholic, drug or gambling addict. But then again, isn’t everyone an addict? Doesn’t everyone have an addiction? Coffee, shopping, candy, cigarettes? At least, I’m confident to say that the majority of the population deals with something, even though not everybody wants to admit it.

Anyway, I feel like my life in Valencia is great. I’m working on many different projects and even found the energy again to create content for my Instagram. I met so many great people already and I know there are many more on their way. The thing I love the most is that there’s always something to do. Obviously, you can always choose to be by yourself, but one thing I really missed in Austria was that there was no option to meet someone or do something. In Valencia, there are daily language exchanges, fireworks (somehow they always seem to celebrate something), beach parties, dance classes, concerts. I’ve joined many WhatsApp groups, where regular meetings are organised and get to meet so many different people from different countries with different stories. In the end, that’s the reason why I travel. Sometimes I can’t even believe I’m living my best life, and it has just started. When are you starting?
