Finding a new home in Australia wasn’t easy but I’m lucky to say I have!

You have to put a lot effort in your search and don’t be too stingy. At first, I didn’t want to spend more than 300$/week for living but after inspecting a few rooms in this price range I knew I had to spend more if I wanna feel comfortable in my new home. So I raised my budget to 350$/week, which is’t much higher, but as soon as I inspected rooms with this price I knew I was right. They were cleaner, bigger, had a better location and I even found a few rooms with a private bathroom. After my bad experience with the hostel this was a highlight for me.

I looked out for rooms to rent on flatmates.com, ozflatmates.com, gumtree.com.au, realestate.com, domain.com & on different Facebook pages. I checked in almost daily and texted a lot of people. More than half of them didn’t answer, so you can get frustrated easily but if you know me you know I don’t give up before I get what I want. I had inspections every day, sometimes up to four per day, depending on my working hours. So I put a lot of stress and pressure on me but it was definitely worth it because finally I found not even an awesome room with a private bathroom but also very nice roommates.

Honestly there are a lot of places with four, five or even six roommates and there is a lot of room sharing as some students can’t (or don’t want to) afford a private room but that’s nothing for me because I don’t like it busy at home and I need my privacy. Now I live with a lovely couple, who has the same interests like me. Make sure that you get to know your roommates before you move in because I think it’s very important that you will get along together.

Another great fact of my new home is that it has a swimming pool, a gym and a tennis court for free. Unfortunately I can’t use it yet because my wound is still not closed. But I can enjoy a great view, as the apartment is on the 26th floor and I can walk to work in twenty minutes, which was also important to me.

I’m very happy I found this great place, and I can tell you if you work hard, you will always get what you want!
