The Reason Why I Started Travelling

The most asked question I hear when I tell someone that I move to Australia, is ‘What do your parents say?’.

My answer is always the same. ‘They kinda raised me like that.’

Since I can remember, there hasn’t been a year without a holiday for the whole family. Most of the people might wonder how we could afford that because my parents have 5 children. The truth is, we never got new clothes or expensive games or cell phones or whatever children nowadays have. We always wore the clothes from the older siblings. It didn’t matter if it was boy or girl clothes. It didn’t matter from what brand our shoes were. We didn’t watch TV that much or played video games. We prefered to play outside.

Many people I meet in my age didn’t travel a lot, some of them have never even flown or seen the sea. My best friend had her first flight with me when we were 18 years old. But what they did have were a lot of brand new shoes, clothes or games.

But I’m very happy and thankful we didn’t have those things and travelled instead because no game or T-Shirt can be compared to the amazing adventures we had while travelling. Me and my siblings saw the world instead, and I think there is no greater gift.
