When we arrived late in the afternoon at the location the weather was super hot. First we had a look around and looked for some food because we were hungry. There were plenty of options making it hard to choose. I really liked that they had some vegan options, it looks like in Middle Europe the vegan lifestyle got big enough to have vegan options at most occasions. After eating it was time for the first support act, a Styrian band called “Herzog, Brunner & Hirsch”. They tried to get the audience into a good mood, the people in front of the stage liked it. There weren’t many people at the festival yet an most of them stayed at the food corner. The style of the band was similar to the main act – Austrian Rock/Folk music. Later another support act was on stage, an Austrian singer called “Nadja Insko”. She participated at a casting show before and slowly it got more crowded. The temperature was also cooling down a bit which made the event more enjoyable. Nadja encouraged the crowd to sing along with her, not all of them followed, maybe because her style of music was more quiet and less of a festival mood. Her singing though was good and she did have some fans in the crowd. At one of her last songs she got very emotional and I could sense she was nervous about this one but she performed it very well. At the end of her performance the crowd even asked for more and so she additionally performed one last song for them.

The location of the festival was awesome, there was a big hill with a castle on top in the background of the stage. After a short rebuild of the stage the last support act started its performance, a Vienna band called “Pendl”. Their style was more Rock music and the crowd really liked it. They had a great performance, the singer held the microphone into the crowd sometimes and more and more people were coming. I could sense they were excited for the main act which started after a 30min rebuild of the stage. Around 7000 people were in their best mood when “Seiler & Speer” finally entered the stage. Soon it started to rain but that did not stop the crowd from partying. Seiler & Speer performed for over an hour. They both had great voices that harmonised well and lyrics people could relate to. That and their Austrian Folk/Rock style is why they are so successful in Austria.
Altogether we really liked the first day of the Howart Live Festival and are excited for the second day.
